Community Walk + Talk and Better Block Community Workshop
June 18-19, 2015
On June 18 and 19, Team Better Block will be in Pinellas Park to lead a series of community events that will help us in developing a community-wide vision for the 5600 Block of Park Boulevard and surrounding area. These events will provide the foundation for Pinellas Park's Better Block event later in the year, in which we will temporarily transform the area to include -- well, just about anything we want it to!
The Pinellas Park Better Block Project kicks off with a Keynote Presentation by Better Block co-founder Andrew Howard on the evening of Thursday, June 18 that will describe the Better Block concept and approach and provide highlights from some of the more than 100 Better Block projects that have now taken place worldwide. Immediately following the presentation, Andrew will lead participants on a Walk + Talk through the neighborhood to gather input and ideas from everyone who attends.
Planning for the Better Block event will begin on the morning of June 19 with a Community Workshop, where staff and volunteers will begin the planning process for a community-wide effort to bring the vision to life. In addition to planning the event site and activities, the group will learn techniques to temporarily create an entire neighborhood, from pop-up stores, cafes, and event-filled plazas to wash-away murals and street lanes, that the community will be invited to try out and give us feedback on. The result is a really fun event that shows the area's possibilities and potential -- and a living plan that we can then begin to make permanent.

There is no cost to attend either event. If you plan on attending both the June 18th Walk + Talk and the June 19th Community Workshop, please register seperately for both events.
